2024 Bike Path Repaving Project Cost Estimate

Sealed Bids will be received by the Village of North Lewisburg Ohio until Thursday October 3rd 2024 2:00pm.   Please deliver bids to The Village of North Lewisburg 60 E. Maple St. PO Box 243 North Lewisburg, OH 43060 or emailed to [email protected]. No late bids will be accepted.
 
Project Scope-The project work will include 1.75 miles by 10ft width of bike path repaving consisting of 2” minimum asphalt overlay.  There are two additional turnout sitting areas that total approximately 1500 sq ft that will also be repaved as well as the East end parking lot at covered bridge, totaling approximately 1650 sq ft. 
 
No prebid meeting will be held.
 
Each proposal shall be signed by the full name and business address of each person or company interested in the same; shall be accompanied by a security bond by a bonding company authorized to do business in the State of Ohio, or by a certified check on some solvent bank in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount of the submitted proposal, the surety bond or certified check being payable to the Village of North Lewisburg , Ohio, as a guarantee that if the proposal is accepted, a contract will be entered into and its performance properly secured by a satisfactory bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price.

The Village Council reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals; to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bids received or to accept any proposal which is deemed most favorable to the Village of North Lewisburg, Ohio.
This project falls under the federal requirements of the Davis-Bacon Act for prevailing wages. Only pre-qualified bidders are eligible to submit bids for this PROJECT. Pre-qualification status must be in force at the time of bid, at the time of award, and through the life of the construction contract. Contractor compliance with the Federal and State of Ohio Equal Employment Opportunity Requirements shall be required.

​The North Lewisburg Ohio Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 6:00pm at 60 E. Maple St. (Municipal Building), North Lewisburg, Ohio to discuss potential changes to the Village Zoning Map.

The North Lewisburg Ohio Village Council is currently accepting resumes to fill a vacant Village Council Seat.  The Village Council meets at 6:30pm the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 60 E. Maple St. North Lewisburg, Ohio. Interested Candidates should submit resumes by 4:00pm   September 6, 2024.  The resumes can be dropped off at 60 E. Maple St or mailed to The Village of North Lewisburg PO Box 243 North Lewisburg, OH 43060.

COLUMBUS, OH (August 14, 2024) – North Lewisburg Ohio was recently awarded $28,288 in the second round of grant funding by Ohio EPA’s new H2Ohio Rivers Chloride Reduction Grant Program. This funding will be used for the purchase of equipment to include brine mixer, brine spreaders, street sweeper attachment and bucket.
 
This is part of the $2.7 million in grants for 52 Ohio communities announced on August 1, 2024, by Governor Mike DeWine to upgrade equipment and salt storage facilities. The H2Ohio Rivers Program is an expansion of Governor DeWine’s H2Ohio initiative. Part of the program is to reduce excessive road salt usage and encourage communities and jurisdictions responsible for winter road and surface maintenance to adopt salt best management practices. Applicants for these grants were able to apply for funding for either new salt equipment or storage facility construction to help alleviate costs to local governments across Ohio.

In May 2024, Ohio EPA announced 31 communities received $1.6 million in funding during the first round, which had over 260 applicants.

Recent water quality testing has shown that Ohio’s waterways are seeing an increase in salt concentrations, primarily due to the use of road salt. Salt can also cause nutrients and metals to detach from sediment, decreasing water quality. There are many drinking water facilities across the state that utilize river water for their source of drinking water. Water that is contaminated with road salt requires additional treatment. Additionally, road salt can cause issues with corrosion in pipes, valves, and other drinking water equipment.  Road salt also corrodes infrastructure like bridges and shortens the life of paved surfaces.

Ohio EPA is excited about North Lewisburg's commitment to reducing salt in their community and protecting Ohio’s waterways.

The Village of North Lewisburg is currently preparing to repair a broken water main on N. Sycamore St. The east side of town is without water and will require a Boil Alert.
